Payroll Specialist & Accountant

Description

The Payroll Specialist & Accountant will be responsible for collect and review employee information and working hours, calculate wages, prepare, and process employee payments, and maintain accurate payroll records for employees in multiple locations. Also, will be responsible for analyzing financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll for employees in the organization.
  • Maintain personnel database regarding salaries.
  • Report to department supervisor regarding daily activities and issues.
  • Work directly with managers and resources to achieve organization goals are required.
  • Address and resole employee complaints relating to the payroll system.
  • Work with company systems and database programs to process payroll.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Prepare, track, and reconcile invoices and payments.
  • Prepare and reconcile checks for suppliers.
  • Compute taxes owe and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
  • Establish chart of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts (bookkeeping).
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document record-keeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  • Provide the proper accounting information to internal and external auditing services for businesses and individuals.
  • Represent clients before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.
  • Appraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the property's description, value, and location.
  • Maintain and examine the records of government agencies.
  • Other activities or projects could be requested.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll/accounting position.
  • Extended knowledge of Puerto Rico tax and wages laws.
  • Knowledge of ADP WFN is preferred.
  • Experience of conducting payroll for at least 100 employees is preferred.
  • Advance knowledge of QuickBooks, MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Fully bilingual, English and Spanish.
  • Strong Analytical Skills, able to identify cause and affect relationships between aspects of a problem in order to achieve timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Sharp business acumen in order to evaluate information received, assess situation and report information to the appropriate individuals.
  • Working knowledge of complete accounting cycle.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, interfacing with internal and external customers, and meeting project timelines.
  • Ability to effectively work as a part of a larger project team and with external contract relationships.
  • Availability and willing to work extra hours and weekends when required.
