Facilities & Utilities Technical Specialist

Ultimate Solutions is seeking a Facilities & Utilities Technical Specialist with strong experience in Facility & Utility systems to support the design and construction of a packaging, warehouse, and administrative facility. The role ensures that facility and utility systems meet functional, regulatory, and operational requirements, while maintaining architectural integrity and efficiency. This individual will serve as a technical liaison between architectural, engineering, and construction teams from design through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination and Integration of Design
  • Perform clash detection to resolve conflicts between structural, architectural, and MEP systems.
  • Ensure integration of architectural elements with MEP components (e.g., HVAC, fire alarms, lighting).
  • Review and maintain design documentation aligned with project updates and schedules.
Early Construction Through Completion
  • Verify field implementation of openings, mechanical rooms, and utility pathways per coordinated drawings.
  • Address real-time field deviations and provide solutions to maintain design intent.
  • Assess architectural impact of utilities and equipment installations (penetrations, fireproofing, ceilings).
  • Serve as technical liaison to resolve conflicts between aesthetics and functional system requirements.
  • Oversee material coordination for integration of finishes with fixtures (e.g., lighting, HVAC diffusers).
Post-Design / Commissioning
  • Support start-up, commissioning, and integration testing for MEP systems within architectural elements.
  • Validate compliance of fire-rated assemblies, enclosures, and access systems.
  • Assist with final turnover, including punch-listing issues impacting architectural elements.
Construction Documentation and Support
  • Provide technical clarifications during construction for Facility and MEP-related queries.
  • Maintain on-site presence to monitor installations and prevent costly rework.
  • Participate in construction meetings and troubleshoot design-related issues.
Architecturally-Integrated Technical Support
Verify field execution of integrated systems, including:
  • Electrical and Lighting
  • Chilled Water / Glycol Piping
  • Utility Routing in Occupied Spaces
  • Cleanroom Walls & Ceiling Systems
  • Building Envelope Penetrations
Additional Project Support
  • Support RFIs, submittals, inspections, and turnover documentation for architectural scope.
  • Oversee mechanical completion and walkdowns with architectural sign-off.
  • Manage redline drawings and final turnover packages for accuracy.

Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in facility & utility systems coordination with architectural and MEP integration.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP and architectural code requirements, commissioning practices, and system interfaces.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet; Kneat experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in GMP-regulated environments, pharmaceutical or biotech facilities.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom design and controlled environments.
  • Familiarity with CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation) processes.
  • Ability to understand FDA, ISPE, and GAMP guidelines.
  • Experience supporting CAPAs and compliance-driven design modifications.
